Staff Members

The majority of Chamber members have dealt with Lungie Radebe since her joining the Chamber in January last year. Lungie is responsible for the Reception and General Office Administration.
Jermaine joined the Chamber in July 2016 in the role of Consultant: Member Services.
Jermaine is currently lecturing apprentices for Trade Theory Blocks and is also responsible for providing services to the KZN Chamber Members. This includes labour consulting, administrative matters and training.

The Chamber has run these programmes at the Pietermaritzburg Show Grounds for the duration of the project.
Thanks to Kuben Pillay of Nuprint who played an important role in organising this annual event, and to Mike Coldbeck of Kendall and Strachan for taking the student on a tour of his operation.

Chamber Projects

The Chamber completed the following projects in 2016:

Rural Outreach Programme

Over the last three years the Chamber has received funding from the FP&M SETA to run a Rural Outreach Programme. This programme has involved a number of schools in the surrounding areas of Pietermaritzburg. The emphasis of this programme has been placed on introducing learners to career opportunities in the Printing and Packaging Industry. To date 68 learners have been through the programme. The programme involved both classroom lectures and a visit to a printing plant.

The Chamber has run these programmes at the Pietermaritzburg Show Grounds for the duration of the project.

Screen Printing Project for the Unemployed
Printing SA secured funding for the Chamber to run a two pronged programme related to Screen Printing in November/December 2016. The first part of the programme involved training in both theory and practical aspect for screen printing. Once the delegates had acquired practical skills in screen printing, they were trained in basic entrepreneurial skills to assist them to set up a micro-businesses.

Guillotine Operator Training now Accredited

The KZN Chamber is now offering SETA accredited Guillotine Operator Training. This programme is made up of three components – see the advertisement on page 3. Theoretical Knowledge which is presented by way of a three-day classroom based experience.
Practical in-house training on the job.

Workplace experience which requires the completion of a log-book. Once all the components of the training have been completed the student is then required to undergo a final competency assessment test.

A competent Guillotine Operator will receive a certificate which is endorsed by the FP&M SETA.
When preparing for your discretionary grant applications from the FP&M SETA you should make application for Guillotine Training. This falls under the definition of a Skills Programme for grant purposes.
