Printing SA awards prize to worthy winner

Printing SA recently ran a competition via social media, offering one worthy recipient the opportunity to win a R23 000 digital programme course fully sponsored.

Three finalists were selected from a large number of entries received. The finalists were then brought into Printing SA training offices and put through a series of psychometric tests with  Carrington Muliwa coming out the definitive winner.

Muliwa, who while in high school had inherited an old broken printer and Pentium 3 laptop from his late uncle, which he managed to fix back into working order. A year later in 2004, he began working from home formulating CV’s for job seekers. He also created invitation cards, copies and programmes for pre-schools and started building his business account. With the money he made, he began assisting his mom with funds to run the home. Unfortunately due to his lack of business knowledge at the time, his business soon collapsed.

However, despite this downfall, in the beginning of last year he decided to resurrect his dream of owning a printing business and  began saving money with which he went on to purchase  an A24 Vinyl plotter, multi-functional heat press and a sublimation printer. His goal was to re build his business and provide an opportunity to further assist members in his community by assisting job seekers with well formulated and well written CVs. Due to the determination and business acumen of Muliwa, he was seen as a worthy recipient of this prize.

Steve Thobela, CEO of Printing SA commented, “Muliwa certainly showed his commitment and dedication and we are thrilled at being able to provide him with this opportunity where he will be given some much needed skills to grow his business. The course includes subjects such as introduction to digital printing, inks, colour, media, finishing and overview of machines. We are convinced this will take his business to the next level.”
