FESPA Innovations & Trends (FIT) 9-10 June 2021: Printed Clothing

The post-COVID-19 reboot requires further investment in business efficiency, which comes through more connected workflows with fewer touchpoints and faster response rates to meet customer expectations.

The confidence to invest comes from working with a supply chain that has a clear vision of the road ahead. Customisation and shorter runs cannot remain profitable without the required speed, quality and efficiency to satisfy today’s digital natives.

DMASA POPIA Guide: POPIA Is Here. Now What?

The Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (Act 4 of 2013) (“POPIA”) has been with us for some time, in its current form, now. It is common cause that the provisions contained in POPIA place a number of onerous obligations on so-called “responsible parties” in relation to the processing of “personal information”.

For some time, a large portion of those who stood to be affected by the provisions of POPIA, have thought “That’s all good and well, I will cross that bridge when I get there”. Following the proclamation in Government Gazette No 43461 on the 22nd of June 2020, it appears as if those affected by the Act are now well and truly confronted with this proverbial “bridge”. This is not cause for panic though, as the DMASA and its legal advisory partners Weavind Online and Weavind Inc. are here to help you cross the bridge in an efficient manner.

As per the latest update from the InfoRegulator's website, the date for registering an Information Officer (and Deputy Information Officer) for your business or your client’s business commences 01 May 2021.

The POPI Act applies to every legal entity/business/association dealing with Personal Information in South Africa, including dormant entities that are still registered. If an entity does not want to submit documentation and comply with POPI and PAIA, it needs to deregister.

The Hidden Cost of Digital

Your online communications may be quick and convenient, but they are part of a global infrastructure that consumes vast amounts of energy and resources.

On March 27, Pizza Hut asked its customers to do an unusual thing. For one hour, between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm, customers in the UAE and Oman were asked to turn off their wi-fi. In return, the pizza company would enter those that did into a draw to win free pizza.
