Escalating National Problem for South African Printers: Paper Costing and Imported Finished Packed Products.

The issue surrounding paper costing requires input and action from major stakeholders in the Printing and Packaging Industry, specifically the paper printing value-chain, to come together and agree on finding lasting solutions on two issues, namely: ever-increasing paper prices and importation of finished packed products, of which most can be produced locally.

The solutions sought should address short and long-term issues. These issues are now exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic and require urgent attention and solutions with assistance and intervention by Government.

To help us find out more, Ken Leid invites you to take part in our questionnaire. If you have any difficulties accessing the questionnaire, please feel free to contact your nearest Printing SA Chamber.

FESPA Innovations & Trends (FIT) 9-10 June 2021: Printed Clothing

The post-COVID-19 reboot requires further investment in business efficiency, which comes through more connected workflows with fewer touchpoints and faster response rates to meet customer expectations.

The confidence to invest comes from working with a supply chain that has a clear vision of the road ahead. Customisation and shorter runs cannot remain profitable without the required speed, quality and efficiency to satisfy today’s digital natives.

Print Remains A Valued Resource

According to Two Sides North America President Kathi Rowzie, print and digital communications are often compared as an “either/or proposition” to suggest one is better than the other, but the non-profit organisation’s research shows that both play an important part in today’s information-driven economy.

‘Rather than adopt a “one-size-fits-all” digital communications strategy, savvy news organisations and other businesses will continue to offer consumers a choice and in doing so, help to assure that those who are unwilling or unable to access digital information are not disadvantaged.’
