The Kwa-Zulu Natal Chamber of Printing SA closed out its year in opulence at the Annual Dinner held at Gateway Hotel on 27 October 2022. The event was attended by 165 guests,  welcomed by a flurry of pre-drinks and old-time business networking at its best. The “Back to Print” theme was a bit of a tough ask for the industries fashionista’s this year, but the creativity of our industry flowed extravagantly with a splurge of shimmer and innovatively designed ensemble worn by members.

The evening was held together by the comedy of Durban’s infamous Aaron Mcilroy and soothing sounds of 5th Season Jazz, which included the recognition top achieving apprentices, regional executive committee members, and Printing SA members for their unwavering support throughout the year. The evening was well spent in celebration of the resilience and optimistic future of the industry.

Printing SA’s Central and Northern Chambers recently collaborated in hosting a CEO lunch followed by PrintingSA National AGM. Keynote speaker, Mr David Shapiro - deputy chairperson at SASFIN, unpacked the current state of the global and local economy.

He highlighted some trends that have led to the foreseeable global recession because of COVID-19 and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. He however reiterated that we should experience a recovery in the economic outlook in South Africa come 2023. As we will have political certainty after the December ANC projections that a minor interest rate hike will be on the cards, however growth is expected across the mining and manufacturing sectors.
