MANUFACTURING INDABA 2022 THEME ANNOUNCED: REIGNITING ECONOMIC GROWTH THROUGH MANUFACTURING

By virtue of the newly established realities attributable to COVID-19, manufacturers have been compelled to modify their businesses to adapt to and remain competitive in an era of instability.

The pandemic has placed the sector under considerable duress, however, has concurrently brought with it multiple opportunities for Africa to prioritise local manufacturing, ultimately diverting from imported products in a bid to reconstruct its own, fiercely independent manufacturing base. 

IMPACT OF THE UKRAINE CRISIS ON PRINT AND PACKAGING

According to AM Mahomed, CEO of Printing South Africa, the past two years have been severely disruptive in the entire print and packaging sector. COVID-19 and the recent crisis in Ukraine have compounded the problems experienced with our member companies feeling the effects of supply chain disruptions and shortages, logistic challenges on road freight, and railroads and seaports in SA that are not functioning optimally. This is in addition to significant price increases on paper, board, inks, glues and other consumables.

PROPAK AFRICA ATTRACTS THOUSANDS OF VISITORS TO LIVE EVENT

The first two days of Propak Africa – with The GAPP Print Expo co-located in Hall 5 – has seen thousands of visitors attending the show eager to see the latest products, machinery, technology and innovation offered by the 200+ exhibitors.

THE DTIC: PARTICIPATION IN HEALTH PRODUCTS MASTERPLAN WORKING GROUPS

The dtic has prioritised the South African Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices sectors for development through the Masterplan process. Masterplans facilitate investment across the value-chain, unlock job creation, deepen cross-sector linkages, and identify domestic, regional, and global export opportunities.

NEW POSITION: MARKETING AND EVENTS COORDINATOR

Printing SA is seeking to appoint a suitable qualified and experienced Marketing and Events Coordinator for its national office in Midrand. The primary purpose of this role is to provide the Marketing Manager, and regional offices with marketing, events coordination and administrative support.
